PALESTINE PROJECT TO BEGIN A family literacy center will open in the Am'ari Refugee Camp in Spring 2009! Family literacy programs give literacy skills to women and at the same time give their pre-school children a familiarity with print and books that they could not get in a household with illiterate parents.
The Palestine Net for Literacy and Adult Learning will train the teacher/facilitators and the director of the Net, Hiyam AbuGhazaleh, has volunteered to supervise the program.
The Women's Center of the Am'ari Camp will donate the use of its space for the classes.
The program will run for two years and will include a series of weekly lectures in Life Development topics such as First aid, Coping with trauma, Pre-natal care, and other topics suggested by the women.
We are very grateful to Ms AbuGhazaleh and to the Women's Center for making this possible!
