An Innovative Literacy Project is Planned in Fauquier County
Details will be provided as the project becomes operational.
OPAL has participated in several projects in support of literacy providers in the Northern Virginia region:
  • MASON LINKS - assisted in the establishment of a literacy program for the service workers on the George Mason University Fairfax campus.
  • AELPNV (Adult English Literacy Providers of Northern Virginia) - Assisted in the planning of two conferences for teachers and volunteers and hosted the website for the organization.
  • Northern Virginia Literacy Council - assisted in the formulation of a five-year strategic plan and did an analysis of the student population.
  • RLCC (Regional Literacy Coordinating Committe) - compiled a directory of literacy providers in the Northern Virginia area.  This directory was distributed to libraries and social service offices throughout the region.  It was also available on the OPAL website until it was judged to be outdated.
